Can vitamin D3 deficiency be responsible for malaise and muscle and joint pain?

My son has vit. D3 at level 17. The test was done because he has acute muscle and joint pain, general malaise and depressive states caused by the above ailments. The suspicion of rheumatic conditions was not supported by any research, because under this account all results came out normal. Is such a deficiency of vit. D3 could be responsible for these ailments? This is a young man of 19 years.

If you mean a result below 20 ng / mL, it actually indicates a deficiency of vitamin D3. Deficiency symptoms can be very different - it can also be deterioration of mood and general weakness, muscle and bone pain. This does not mean that the son's ailments are definitely due to vitamin D3 deficiency, but it is possible. However, I suppose that my son has already received a recommendation for vitamin D supplementation and it will be possible to see if the ailments will start to subside. In terms of further diagnostics, it is best to follow the suggestions of the attending physician.
