Abrupt discontinuation of Quetaplex and Venlafaxine should be avoided. In the case of depression, it is recommended to continue pharmacological therapy for a minimum of half a year from the time of remission. Discontinuation of treatment, especially abrupt, may result in withdrawal symptoms of Venlafaxine, which include dizziness and/or headache, sensory disturbances, sleep disturbances, agitation, anxiety, nausea and/or vomiting, tremor. The above withdrawal symptoms are observed in some patients, usually with a mild or moderate degree of severity. They generally occur only for the first few days after discontinuation of treatment. Occasionally, however, symptoms persist for up to two or three months or more. The risk of adverse changes associated with stopping the drug can be minimized by reducing the doses of Venlafaxine gradually over a period of several weeks or months. After abrupt discontinuation of Quetiapine, acute withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, headache, diarrhoea, dizziness, irritability, vomiting and insomnia have been reported.
