Hello, I am 8 weeks after giving birth, I have never taken any contraceptive medication before. Hence the question arises, I have to wait until the first menstruation to start taking them, but can I start taking them let's assume already?

You have not written what contraceptive drug you would like to start taking, so I cannot answer unequivocally, because individual products may differ in their recommendations for patients after childbirth. When asked, Cerazette is tagged - a one-component contraceptive pill. If you are going to use Cerazette, please read on. Otherwise, the information may not be adequate. After delivery, you should start taking Cerazette tablets between the 21st and 28th day after birth. If you start taking the pills later (in your case, because 8 weeks have already passed), you should use an additional method of contraception (mechanical contraceptives) for the first 7 days of taking the pills. After intercourse, before starting to take the tablets, check if the patient is not pregnant or wait until the first menstruation. This means that if you are sure that you are not pregnant again (because, for example, you have not had sex since the day of delivery), you can start taking a drug such as Cerazette right away, but for a week you need to use an additional condom. If you have already had sex and are sexually active, you should first make sure that there is no further pregnancy, only then you can start taking the pills, also maintaining for 7 days either abstinence from intercourse or using an additional method.
