Can I use Pramolan after alcohol withdrawal?

Can I use pramolan after alcohol withdrawal? For a few days I drank alcohol, I have withdrawal symptoms (trembling hands, anxiety, sleep problems). The doctor last week prescribed me pramolan. I would like to calm down and go through it as gently as possible. Maybe there are some over-the-counter pills? Unfortunately, I can't afford to see a doctor right now...
