On Monday I had a tooth opened for root canal treatment and left open so that there was an outlet for pus. While after yesterday's visit I felt relieved and as if less of this pus under the gums, today I am again swollen and there is pain as if the pus was collecting again. Today I took the second tablet of the antibiotic Clindamycin 600. Will the swelling and pus go down after the antibiotic or is something bad happening again that I still have swelling and pain?

Clindamycin-MIP jest antybiotykiem o szerokim spektrum działania. Hamuje syntezę białek bakteryjnych. Po podaniu doustnym stosunkowo szybko wchłania się do tkanek, w tym również do kości i zębów, w których hamuje stan zapalny.
Poprawa powinna być widoczna po trzech dobach od rozpoczęcia przyjmowania leku.
Należy pamiętać o zachowaniu równych odstępów czasu między kolejnymi dawkami. Należy brać antybiotyk o ustalonych godzinach. Jest to bardzo ważne i wpływa na powodzenie leczenia antybiotykiem. W organizmie zachowane jest wówczas właściwe i skuteczne stężenie leku.
Gdy antybiotyk jest prawidłowo stosowany zmniejszy on obrzęk. Należy zachować cierpliwość i nie przerywać przyjmowania leku.
W przypadku braku poprawy należy skontaktować się ze stomatologiem, który zdecyduje o dalszym postępowaniu. Być może konieczne będzie ponowne leczenie kanałowe, zmieniona zostanie dawka leku lub terapia antybiotykiem zostanie przedłużona na kolejne dni.
