Although coughing is not one of the most common side effects with Velaxin (venlafaxine), in rare cases it may cause respiratory reactions such as shortness of breath or eosinophilic cough. However, if this symptom did not resolve immediately after stopping the medication, it is likely that the cause lies elsewhere and the coincidence in time with the medication may have been accidental.
Nocturnal cough is often associated with what is known as secretion dripping syndrome down the back wall of the throat, gastroesophageal reflux (which can get worse after certain medications), or the onset of an infection. Please note that you should not stop taking SNRI drugs (such as Velaxin) on your own, as this may lead to withdrawal syndrome; The decision to modify the dosage must always be made by a doctor.
In this situation, I encourage you to consult your doctor or family doctor to listen to your chest and rule out infections or inflammatory changes. Until the visit, you can use saline inhalations and take care of the proper humidity in the bedroom. It is also worth checking whether the cough does not worsen after taking other medications (e.g. for hypertension from the group of ACE inhibitors), if you use them.
If you are not able to use a stationary visit, I attach a link to the online teleconsultation:
