Does it make sense to take Ebilfumin prophylactically for 20 days?

One of the people I live with has fallen ill with the flu. The doctor prescribed Ebilfumin tablets, but does it make sense to take them? Especially since the prescription says that I should take the pill once a day for 20 days. Isn't that an exaggeration? Especially with such side effects.

Prevention after exposure to the virus:

The recommended dose for the prevention of influenza after close contact with an infected person, in adolescents (13 to 17 years of age) and adults, is 75 mg oseltamivir (Ebilfumin) once daily for 10 days.

Your doctor may recommend a different dosage of the drug (especially in the case of mass illness - then it is allowed to take Ebilfumin for a longer period, even for several weeks). If you have any doubts about the length of treatment, I encourage you to consult your doctor directly.

The most common side effects with Ebilfumin are headache and gastrointestinal discomfort. Influenza can cause serious complications from the circulatory, respiratory and nervous systems, so the use of oseltamivir as a prophylaxis is justified.
