Should I take an extra Axia Conti tablet if I have diarrhea within 2 hours of taking the tablet?
12.99 zł

Good morning

I take Axia Conti contraceptive pills every day at 5 p.m. Due to stomach pain, I had to use the toilet twice, where the first time the stool was loose, and the second time it was obviously diarrhea. All within the first two hours. Should I take another pill from the current Axia Conti packaging? Then, of course, I would finish the packaging the day before? Or is it completely unnecessary?

Bleeding or intracyclic spotting is completely normal in this case.
Shortening the withdrawal bleeding interval or even skipping it does not mean that bleeding will not occur. Since your tablet cycle is somewhat dysregulated, the risk of spotting and bleeding while taking active tablets increases. However, all these situations do not affect the effectiveness of contraception. It is still preserved.

I was supposed to have a placebo Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (Axia Conti). I shortened the placebo only to the first two days, on Monday I started a new package. Then the situation I described above. And last night I noticed a slight bleeding, which also occurs today. Can spotting occur even after such a short break? Usually my spotting occurred on the last day or the day I was supposed to take a new package. I just have to add that this is the first cycle where I took a placebo, the last three cycles did not.

Since the situation took place within the first two hours after taking the tablet and we cannot rule out that it was diarrhoea, an additional pink tablet from the blister can be used as a preventive measure.

Since you will run out of one pink tablet, the cycle of taking the active tablets will be shortened to 23 days (i.e. after 23 days you will switch immediately to placebo) – in total, this cycle will last 27 days, instead of 28 days as usual. After the last placebo tablet, a new blister should be started. Then protection will be provided. It is important that the interval between pink tablets does not last longer than 4 days – then protection is provided.
