I may be re-treated with Metronidazole Auroveritas. Just like last year. I have had a contraceptive implant for 9 days and I am still supposed to use oral contraception for the next 3 weeks. I understand that in the case of pills - the effectiveness may be reduced. But if I have an Implanon NXT - am I still protected?

Although Metronidazole may weaken the effectiveness of tablets, this is a purely theoretical situation, so there is no reason to worry – especially since you are already using an implant at the same time.
Such a combination provides full control and metronidazole has no right to weaken it.
So in the case of a possible treatment - there are no concerns about the contraceptive continuity of the implant? Even despite the weakening of the protection from the pills? I continue to take Vibin Mini to make a milder transition to the implant and for the sake of a few days of travel (to prevent possible spotting). These were the recommendations of the gynaecologist after implantation.

Metronidazole does not affect the effectiveness of the NXT Implant. Protection will be maintained and there is no reason to worry.
It is true that there is a risk of weakening the effectiveness of oral contraception – due to the effect on the bacterial flora of the digestive tract and an increased risk of diarrhea and vomiting. In the case of an implant, there is no such risk.
