Can I experience severe pain in my limbs while taking Escitalopram?

I used to take 10mg of Escitalopram for depression, for over a year due to the relapse of the disease I have been taking 20mg. Is it normal that after this drug and after taking it for so long, as a side effect, I can feel terrible pain in my limbs? Legs from the knees down, and hands around the forearms and wrists. Sometimes it is unbearable pain. These symptoms appeared only now, before that everything was fine.

I got terrible pain after Escitalopram, I also had night sweats. I had muscle pain, bone pain, I don't even know what to call it. I went to the emergency room three times, I was given muscle relaxants, I was examined by many doctors, I had MRI scans, no one knew what was wrong with me. Even the blockades given by orthopedists did not do anything. Physiotherapy did not bring relief either. In addition, I had very high night sweats. The pain appeared about a year after taking Esci, but also quite quickly after switching to the 20 mg dose, maybe 2 months after entering this dose. Only when I stopped taking the drug, after about 2 months the pain gradually subsided, and only then did I realize that it was from Escitalopram. I took the leaflet in my hand and it turned out that it was written that these could be side effects. In my case, they appeared only at the highest dose. I was in great pain, I was unable to function. I even thought about writing to the manufacturer of this drug, because I still had a lot of muscle tension, and only drugs that reduce muscle tension relieved pain, other painkillers didn't work. And since I didn't take any other medication at that time, so I know that these pains were caused by Escitalopram.

Hello I have the same problem and discontinued Cipralex 3 weeks ago. But the pain is still there. Is your pain gone in the meantime?

Escitalopram can cause inflammation of the joints and muscles (a common side effect). Consultation with a doctor is advisable to discuss the possibility of changing the antidepressant treatment. Side effects of taking medication may occur with some delay. The severity of the problem may be correlated with an increase in the dose of the preparation.
