The doctor prescribed me Metypred 16mg and Salofalk tablets and suppositories, but my symptoms are not that severe - can I stop taking Metypred?

Hello. After a colonoscopy, the doctor said I probably had UC and prescribed me three medications to take. Metyped 16mg, Salofalk 500mg 3x2 tablets, plus Salofalk suppositories 1mg. I didn't have strong symptoms of this disease and I'm afraid that I was prescribed Metrped 16mg too soon. From what I've read it wreaks havoc on the body and is a very potent steroid. I'm thinking about stopping. Can someone advise if this is a good idea.

Do not discontinue steroids on your own. The drug must be discontinued under medical supervision, according to the schedule, by gradually reducing the dose. Suddenly stopping taking this medication can be dangerous to your health.

I am not in a position to assess the appropriateness of the prescribed treatment, as this is a matter for the doctor. If you have any doubts, it is worth consulting another gastroenterologist about the problem. Perhaps the changes in your gut are more extensive than you feel. Either way, I encourage you to consult further.
