Calperos is a preparation containing calcium carbonate indicated for use, m.in, in deficiencies of this element. The risk of calcium deposition in the vessels is usually in people with impaired kidney function, in whom a decrease in glomerular filtration rate can lead to vascular calcification.
If Calperos is used in people with known calcium deficiency and no kidney problems, the risk of calcification of blood vessels is very low.
To sum up, the safety of using calcium preparations is ensured by taking them in situations indicated for it.
Indications for taking Calperos according to the Summary of Product Characteristics are:
- states of increased demand for calcium: a period of intensive growth in children and adolescents, as well as during pregnancy and lactation;
- low supply of calcium in food;
- impaired reabsorption of calcium from the renal tubules;
- hypocalcemia with hyperphosphataemia in patients with chronic renal failure and prevention of increased neuromuscular excitability;
- prophylactically – complementary in the comprehensive treatment of osteoporosis;
- conditions after long-term immobilization and the period of convalescence (physical rehabilitation) after bone fractures;
- as an adjunct in the treatment of colds and allergic diseases.
