Good morning, I have been taking Pitamet 2mg a day for 2 months. Normal results. After 4 weeks without this drug, the results slightly exceeded the upper limit. The doctor prescribed Apo atorwa 10mg. Is it a newer statin? Does it have fewer side effects?

Pitamet is a newer formulation than Apo-Atorva with fewer side effects and drug interactions. Both preparations may cause side effects, which are described (along with their frequency) in the package leaflets. We wrote about whether to be afraid of side effects in the article:

Pitamet contains pitavastatin, which is one of the newest statins. It is characterized by a greater effect on the increase in the concentration of good cholesterol (HDL). At the same time, it similarly lowers LDL, triglycerides, and total cholesterol levels compared to other statins. Its use does not adversely affect glucose metabolism. Pitavastatin is effective at very low doses (1-4 mg). In addition, the drug has fewer drug interactions than, for example, atorvastatin (e.g. in Apo-Atorva), which may be beneficial especially in patients using multiple drugs.
Clinical studies indicate that treatment with pitavastatin significantly reduces the incidence of cardiovascular events in patients with at-risk hypercholesterolaemia compared to atorvastatin.
If you have any doubts about the recommended treatment, I encourage you to consult your doctor again. You can also take advantage of a teleconsultation via e.g. the Gdziepolek.pl portal:
