Side effects of Dorminox include, m.in, drowsiness, impaired concentration. In order to minimize the risk of daytime sleepiness, it is recommended to ensure an adequate amount of sleep (8 hours). With higher doses of the drug, effects such as confusion, lightheadedness, irritability, excessive sedation may occur. Some of these effects may resemble symptoms of dementia. However, the direct effect of the drug on the development of dementia has not been described. Short-term memory impairment (e.g. in the case of sudden awakening at night) may result from the hypnotic effect of the preparation.
