According to the Summary of Product Characteristics for Helicid, the majority of patients recover within 2 weeks of starting treatment. For patients who are not completely cured in the first stage of treatment, a complete recovery usually occurs within the next 2 weeks of therapy. In patients with refractory duodenal ulcers, a dose of 40 mg once daily is recommended; In these patients, complete recovery usually occurs within 4 weeks.
The most common adverse reactions (1-10% of patients) are: headache, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, flatulence and nausea, vomiting.
