Treatment of pancreatic cancer depends, m.in, on the location of the cancer or the stage of the diagnosed cancer.
Currently, the treatment of pancreatic cancer is divided into radical, such as organ resection, and palliative treatment, which reduces symptoms and prolongs the patient's survival.
Palliative treatment includes the implementation of chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine or other drug combinations (m.in. FOLFIRINOX treatment regimen). In some cases, a combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy is used.
Targeted therapy is also possible. In this case, tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are used, which include, m.in, erlotinib.
