Both escitalopram and moclobemide are prescription medicines. It will be best to consult the start of the treatment with a specialist

Escitalopram belongs to the group of SSRIs, i.e. selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used, among other things, in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Abrupt discontinuation of the drug should be avoided. When discontinuation of escitalopram, the dose should be gradually reduced over a period of at least 1-2 weeks to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

Moclobemide is used, among others, in depressive syndromes. After discontinuation of treatment with serotonin reuptake inhibitors and prior to initiation of treatment with moclobemide, a gap of 4-5 periods of the biological half-life of the drug or its active metabolite must be maintained. The biological half-life of escitalopram is 30 hours. Thus, mocobemide can be taken at least 150 hours after the last dose of escitalopram. That is, after about 7 days.

However, he suggests that you consult your doctor and follow their recommendations.

Concomitant use of drugs with strong serotonin effects should also be avoided due to the possibility of serotonin syndrome. To diagnose serotonin syndrome, it is essential to identify at least three symptoms. The most common are: changes in mental status, disturbances of consciousness, psychomotor agitation, confusion, myoclonus, excessive reflexes, profuse sweating, chills, muscle tremors, diarrhea, impaired motor coordination, increased temperature, convulsions.

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
