It is difficult to say unequivocally which drug will be better in your particular case. As research shows, silodosin is burdened with a lower risk of side effects from the cardiovascular system, e.g. related to vasodilating effects, i.e. orthostatic drops in blood pressure and dizziness. However, if you do not suffer from hypertension, the difference between the effects of both drugs may not be so noticeable. According to the research: "Alpha-blockers used to treat BPH in Poland are: alfuzosin, doxazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin and silodosin. The first three of these cause serious side effects associated primarily with vasodilator effects, i.e. orthostatic drops in blood pressure and dizziness. Tamsulosin has a relative selectivity for alpha receptors, which makes the percentage of side effects associated with hypotonia less than that of alfuzosin, doxazosin and terazosin. The greatest selectivity in relation to the α-1A subtype of adrenergic receptors is shown by silodosin. This translates into its high effectiveness in treatment and minimal risk of impact on the cardiovascular system, and thus its high safety in both treated and untreated patients for hypertension." Please also remember that side effects may occur, but do not occur in every patient using the medicine.
