Good morning, Can taking PPIs cause bad breath from the mouth? On a daily basis, I do not have a problem with it, but I noticed that when I take drugs from this group I feel disgust in my mouth, I also have a very bad smell. Best regards

Bad breath can be caused, m.in , by gastroesophageal reflux, tooth decay, and oral infections. PPIs can cause taste disturbances. We wrote more in the opinion:

Perhaps bad breath is the result of exacerbation of gastroesophageal reflux during which you use a PPI. This may be mistakenly considered a side effect of the drug.
If it is confirmed that in your case bad breath is the result of the use of a PPI, I encourage you to report this type of adverse reaction.
