Pluscard and Acard are medicines containing the same active substance (acetylsalicylic acid) and mechanisms of action. They are used to treat cardiovascular diseases. Pluscard additionally contains glycine, which increases the solubility of acetylsalicylic acid and facilitates its absorption. Acetylsalicylic acid, which is a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase and inhibits the formation of blood clots in blood vessels. Therefore, it is mainly used in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack or stroke, as well as in the treatment of pain. Acard, like Pluscard, does not lower blood pressure. However, caution should be exercised when combining Acard (and other salicylates) and Norvascu in therapy. Concomitant use may increase the risk of bleeding. There was also an increase in bleeding time with parallel use of verapamil and acetylsalicylic acid. The patient should be monitored for signs of bleeding and the dose of salicylates should be reduced accordingly if necessary.
