The simultaneous use of tramadol (Tramal Reard 200) and paroxetine (Paroxinor) may be associated with a weakening of the analgesic effect of tramadol and an excessive increase in the concentration of serotonin in the brain, which may lead to the symptoms of serotonin syndrome, manifested in the form of increased sweating, fever, chills, increase in blood pressure, increased heart rate or diarrhea. During the simultaneous use of these drugs, the occurrence of seizures is also possible. Tramal Retard 200 is a medicine with a prolonged release regimen, which means that, compared to classic tablets or capsules, the drug is released in the body over a longer period of time. Maximum tramadol concentrations following administration of Tramal Retard are reached after approximately 5 hours, therefore a 12-hour interval between administration does not exclude the possibility of interactions between them. Therefore, if both drugs were prescribed by the same doctor, you should follow the recommendations, paying special attention to the possibility of the above-mentioned side effects. If you notice any alarming symptoms, seek medical advice immediately. If both drugs were prescribed by different doctors, you should consult your doctor before starting their simultaneous use.
