Is the recommended dosage of Azycin for your child correct?

Azycin 250mg 2x a day for 6 days for a 9 year old child weighing 42 kg is it not too much? The leaflet is that the total dose in the treatment should be 1500mg and it is for a weight of 45kg and we have 3000g. Diagnosis: fever 39 degrees for 2 days, test for flu, covid and RSV negative, that is, it is not known what is. No blood tests were recommended. Should I see another doctor?

I encourage you to consult your doctor again. Perhaps the dosage of the drug prescribed is different than it was written. It is possible, for example, to use Azycyna 250 mg on the first day at a dose of 2 tablets, and on the following days after 1 tablet. Azycyna is usually given in doses every 24 hours (i.e. 1 time a day). The dosage of the drug may also be different, depending on the patient's condition and the type of infection found. Usually, children weighing less than 45 kg are recommended suspensions: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/8460/azycyna-tabletki-powlekane/apteki https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/8459/azycyna-granulat-do-wytworzenia-zawiesiny/apteki If you are not able to visit stationary, I encourage you to use the teleadvice offered, m.in. by the Gdziepolek.pl portal: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja The negative results obtained for the flu, COVID and RSV test indicate that these viruses are not the cause of infection. The doctor prescribing the antibiotic indicated that the infection has a bacterial basis.
