Complete blood counts with smear are recommended prior to initiating treatment with Sulfasalazin and during treatment. In the initial period of treatment 1 - 2 times per month, then every 3 - 6 months. Liver function should be monitored regularly by performing liver tests (m.in determination of liver enzymes AST and ALAT). Conducting urine tests is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency using the drug.
