What should I do if I have severe shoulder and hip pain after Ostenil?

Good morning, I have a question about the treatment of osteoporosis with the drug Ostenil. After taking this medicine, I experienced severe pain in the shoulder and hip joints. After a few days, he eased and finally relented. The attending physicians gave me information that only the undesirable effect of this drug on the part of the digestive system is the basis for changing it. I am afraid of taking another dose of Ostenil. I don't know what to do in this situation. I will be grateful for the information.

Muscle, bone or joint pain, sometimes of severe severity, may affect more than 1 in 10 people taking Ostenil. So this is a very common, possible side effect: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-i-dlaczego-zglaszac-dzialania-niepozadane I'm not sure what possible change the doctor is thinking of, but I suppose it may be an injectable drug called denosumab. This drug can be used as part of reimbursed therapy after failure of treatment with oral bisphosphonates (i.e. drugs such as Ostenil) or in case of contraindications (intolerance) to their use. According to the Communication of the Minister of Health on the reimbursement of denosumab of March 2015 (I do not find that it is newer), contraindications to oral bisphosphonate treatment include conditions such as: active gastric ulcer, swallowing disorders, active gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastrectomy, inability to maintain a standing or sitting position for at least 60 minutes, allergy to the drug or other condition of the patient, preventing regular intake of oral bisphosphonates and other contraindications listed in the Summary of Product Characteristics. Bisphosphonate intolerance is considered to be a gastrointestinal disorder serious enough to discontinue treatment. Please take into account that this alternative medicine that I have in mind can also - although of course does not have to - very often cause bone, joint and/or muscle pain, which can sometimes be severe. I understand that the vision of feeling pain for several days is difficult for you to accept, but perhaps a doctor could advise you on safe ways to alleviate them. Withdrawal from osteoporosis treatment may result in fractures that can potentially have worse and more long-term effects than several days of pain. I enclose additional information about the drug Ostenil - prescription preparations can be reserved at GdziePoLek and collected stationary upon presentation of the prescription: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/58185/ostenil-70-tabletki/apteki/w-warszawie Our article on osteoporosis may also be helpful: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/osteoporoza-jak-zapobiegac-i-jak-leczyc
