Both medicines are strong painkillers and can cause drowsiness and confusion. Compared with morphine, buprenorphine (the active substance in Transtec) showed a stronger analgesic effect and caused less constipation. The analgesic effect of Transtec is about 40 times stronger than that of morphine, but it has a weaker smooth muscle contractile effect than morphine and a limited ability to cause euphoric symptoms. Buprenorphine is used primarily in the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Since these are strong painkillers, the treatment should be decided by your doctor.
