I did not find information that the cough could be the cause of the shift of the IUD. The IUD is displaced or excreted most often as a result of strong uterine contractions. Sometimes the causes are difficult to determine. Intrauterine devices have threads that protrude into the vagina and that can be felt with your fingers, allowing you to control whether the IUD is in place.
