As our statistics show, the drug Decostriol is slowly appearing in pharmacies. This medicine contains calcitriol, a substance to which alfacalcidol (the active substance in Alphadiol) is converted in the liver. Thus, it cannot be treated as a strict replacement for Alfadiol. Before changing the method of treatment, it will be necessary to consult a doctor and a new prescription. However, this drug has a very similar effect (practically identical) and indications for use as Alfadiol and can be used in a situation where Alfadiol is not available.
