During treatment with Izotek, beta-carotene should not be used. Beta-carotene is a provitamin from which vitamin A is produced in the body. Isotretinoin contained in Izotek is a derivative of vitamin A. With the combination of Izotek and beta-carotene, hypervitaminosis A could occur, which increases the risk of overdose and toxic effects of this vitamin on the body.
