Can I return to Amizepin after taking Depakine?

Some time I took the drug Amizepin but by going abroad I was forced to take Depakine (two packs). Can I go back to Amizepin now when I return?

Such a decision belongs to your attending physician. These are different drugs with different mechanisms of action. Amizepine is a drug used to treat epilepsy and manic episodes in bipolar disorder. The active substance of the drug is carbamazepine, which has an anticonvulsant effect. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit excessive stimulation of nerve cells by stabilizing their cell membranes. Depakine Chrono is a prolonged-release drug used to treat epilepsy and manic episodes in bipolar disorder. The active substance of the drug is sodium valproate, which has an anticonvulsant effect. Its mechanism of action is based on increasing the concentration of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which reduces the stimulation of the nervous system.
