Good morning. I have endometriosis: removed ovary, fallopian tube, infiltrates on the intestines and bladder. A few months ago, I was put on a kyleena insert. The bleeding basically almost stopped and the pains disappeared. Recently, the doctor after laparoscopy prescribed visanne. My question: can I combine kyleena and visanne?

Yes, you can use Visanne with the Kylen insert on. Kyleena contains levonorgestrel, which has a strong anti-estrogenic effect on the endometrium, causes endometrial atrophy and the absence of menstruation with preserved ovulation. Unfortunately, due to the fact that ovulation is not inhibited, there is a greater probability of developing endometrial foci within the ovaries than in the case of other preparations. The use of Visanne is then highly recommended. The drug contains dienogest, the action of which is associated with the reduction of foci of endometriosis. Which is desirable in this case.
