The child has a suspicion of asthma. The doctor for a tiring dry cough recommended montelukast. Now the child had a runny nose and a wet cough appeared. In this situation, should I give expectorant syrup and not give mintelukast or can I give miontelukast and expectorant syrup at the same time? Please reply.

If necessary (cough is still productive) - expectorant drugs can be used during montelukast treatment. Montelukast has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, inhibits swelling of the mucous membrane, spasm of smooth muscles and excessive production of mucous secretions. We wrote in detail about what expectorant drugs can be given to asthmatics in another post: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/opinie-i-pytania/31442/jakie-leki-wykrztusne-i-przeciwkaszlowe-moze-stosowac-osoba-chora-na-astme-a-jak
