Among the indications for the use of Vinpoven contained in the Summary of Product Characteristics and the package leaflet of the drug, we will not find treatment for short-term memory disorders. One clinical trial involving 12 healthy female volunteers showed that a three-day treatment of 40 mg vinpocetine (a dose 8 times higher than vinpoven)can improve the reaction time in a short-term memory test. However, it is worth being aware that the doctor may, based on his own knowledge and experience, recommend the use of the drug outside the official indications - this is the so-called off-label treatment.
