Why did the immunologist recommend me to use Hascovir for a long time for liver disease?

The immunologist recommended that I use Hascovir 200 mg2 times a day for 4-6 months. I have primary biliary cirrhosis of the liver with chronic hepatitis overlap syndrome... Can I use Hascovir for so long? .. I have not read anywhere about such a long treatment, and I have a visit only in October.

Hascovir is a medicine containing acyclovir, a substance that prevents the multiplication of pathogenic herpes viruses from the Herpes group and in the treatment of infections caused by the varicella zoster virus. Infection with the herpes simplex virus is quite common and generally only causes skin lesions. In some groups of patients - including those with reduced immunity - it can cause a generalized infection, including acute hepatitis. Perhaps some information about your case indicates that you are at risk of developing hepatitis of HSV origin (Herpes viruses), hence the recommendation of acyclovir therapy. Any doubts are best discussed with the attending physician, because only he has full information from the medical records about why you need a long course of treatment with this drug and what are the expected benefits of such treatment.
