Prolonged bleeding at the beginning of the use of Evra patches - should it be a cause for concern?

A week ago, on the first day of menstruation, I started using Evra contraceptive patches. The bleeding has still not subsided and in addition, for several days it has been looking different than usual: the blood does not flow freely, but only when using the toilet and is more dense and "focused". Tonight is the time to change the patch. Is such bleeding a cause for concern? And can it change after sticking the second patch?

The initial period of use of hormonal contraception is called the so-called adaptation period, during which the body adapts to hormonal changes occurring under the influence of the contraceptive method used. Most often we are talking about the first 3 months of using contraception. During this time, irregular or prolonged spotting and bleeding occur more often. If the bleeding is not accompanied by other disturbing symptoms, there is no reason for concern. most likely, with the continuation of contraceptive use, bleeding will subside.
