Can the Ulcamed tablet be broken in half to make it easier to swallow?

I have severe reflux and gastritis. The doctor prescribed me Ulcamed. However, I have a problem with swallowing the tablet. Can I break the tablet in half and swallow? If not, please let me know how you can make swallowing the pills easier?

To @Hania: I also had in mind the drug Ulgastran, which is actually not available now. I have just read that the drug is to be available only in July this year. So in fact until then you can try to share a tablet of Ulcamed and symptomatically support yourself with drugs in the form of a suspension with a weaker effect, e.g. Alugastrin, Gaviscon, etc. It is important to maintain a minimum 30 minute interval between Ulgastran and antacid suspensions.

Thank you kindly for your reply. You write that in the form of a "drinking solution". Could you write what drug you have in mind? Earlier, the doctor prescribed me a suspension of Ulgastran but unfortunately in any pharmacy I could not and still can not buy it. Are there any other drugs in the form of a drinking solution or suspension that can be used for the diseases I mentioned? If so, please provide names.

To @Hania: In my opinion, it would be worth informing your attending physician about this fact. Perhaps on this basis, the specialist will decide to change the method of treatment - using medicines, e.g. in the form of drinking solutions or tablets easy to swallow. Until your visit, if necessary, you can share the Ulcamed tablet.

Thank you for the clarification. So what do you think I should do: fish the pill or give them up? Swallowing the whole tablet ends fatally. I have severe reflux all the time, now my esophagus also hurts. When I fished the reflux tablet in the evening, the stomach also hurt less...

For @Hania: Dividing the tablet will affect the mechanism of action of the drug. The coating ensures that the drug reaches the stomach, where the action of the drug occurs. Damage to the envelope will cause the drug to begin to be absorbed throughout the gastrointestinal tract, then the therapeutic effect may not be satisfactory. When the coating is not damaged (by dividing the tablet, crushing), the drug goes to the stomach, there under the influence of hydrochloric acid, a precipitate is formed, which adheres primarily in the area of ulcers and inhibits the activity of pepsin. Thus, dividing the tablet does not cause a health risk, however, it will make the therapeutic effect weaker.

Thank you. If I divide the pill in half, will it affect my health in any way? Won't the mid-term drug work as it should? When I swallow it whole, I feel that it is in the esophagus and there is nothing I can do anymore. Reflux intensifies and I vomit a lot. If I catch it is much better... Will fishing for Ulcamed hurt me?

Ulcamed is a film-coated tablet, it should not be broken or crushed. The drug should be swallowed whole. We talk about how to make it easier to swallow a tablet in our short video:
