Good evening, During the home swab for Covid from the nose, some blood appeared on the swab stick (probably as a result of the curve of the septum and incorrect insertion of the stick), in such a situation: 1. the blood that appeared on the cotton swab affects the result of the test? 2. could there have been any more serious injury in the nose? Thank you for the answer Regards

A little blood on a stick should not affect the result of the test, because the COVID test looks for the virus's proteins or its genetic material in the sample, not human blood particles. In the case of some tests, manufacturers declare directly that no interference with human blood has been observed. It is difficult for me to answer whether there could have been a "more serious injury". It is mainly up to you to assess how the swab was taken, whether you feel any ailments, pain, whether the bleeding persists. If so, it may be advisable to contact a doctor.
