Every drug on the market, including Provera, is tested for efficacy and safety. Like any drug, it can - but does not have to - cause side effects. All known side effects are detailed in the leaflet because this is the law and for safety reasons. Embolism and thromboembolism are listed as identified side effects of Provera, for which the incidence cannot be determined from the available data. In patients with a history of thrombotic or thromboembolic disorders, special care should be taken when using this drug, and active thromboembolism is a contraindication to the start of therapy. Perhaps the doctor on the basis of the anamnesis noticed some premises to mention the thrombotic risk. The above warnings do not mean, however, that you will definitely have problems with coagulation or that it is a particularly dangerous drug in this respect. Provera was prescribed to improve your health or solve a health problem, not to harm you. If your doctor has ordered therapy, he or she probably thinks the potential benefit is greater than the possible risk.
