Rexetin is a medicine containing paroxetine used to treat adults with depression and/or anxiety disorders. In a sense that I would describe as more "colloquial," all drugs used to treat mental illness are referred to as "psychotropic drugs." And then, in this approach, psychotropic drugs include drugs used in depression, anxiety or schizophrenia. According to another definition, psychotropic drugs are those that cross the barrier between the blood and the brain, with the ability to exert an outflow on brain tissue. Such an understanding is broader and will also include drugs used in neurology, hypnotics or affecting memory and concentration functions. With this understanding of the definition, paroxetine (the active ingredient of the drug Rexetin) can be classified as psychotropic substances, since it is a drug that acts on the mental sphere. On the other hand, a narrow definition of psychotropic substances - which is closer to pharmacists - is introduced by an annex to the Act on counteracting drug addiction. It contains medicinal substances that have addictive potential, which may be associated with their abuse. In this sense, Rexetin is not a psychotropic.
