Can I safely inhale Gentamycin in ampoules?
Hi, after covidzie I have recurrent acute sinusitis. The ENT doctor prescribed me the antibiotic Gentamycin 40mg/ml of rozror but I have to use it for nebulization without dissolving in saline. In the leaflet there is nothing about nebulization only that it can be used intravenously or intramedicularly. Can I safely inhale it?

According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, Gentamycin Krka is used intramuscularly or intravenously: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/32393/gentamicin-krka-iniekcja/apteki Administration of the drug in the form of nebulization is an off-label application, i.e. outside the registered indications. In some countries, nebulisation is approved in selected cases for antibiotics such as tobramycin or colistin: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami The doctor, based on his knowledge and experience, may recommend off-label therapy. W zarejestrowanych wskazaniach i zatwierdzonej drodze podania nie znajduje się zastosowanie leku Gentamycin w formie do nebulizacji. Takie podanie jest terapią off-label, jednak w swojej praktyce spotykamy się ze zleceniami na podawanie antybiotyków takich jak gentamycyna drogą wziewną.
