Jeśli podczas 8 miesięcy wkładki plamienia nie występowały i pojawiły się nagle, należy skonsultować się z ginekologiem i przeprowadzić rutynowe badania.
Bez badania ginekologicznego i USG nie ma możliwości precyzyjnego określenia przyczyn krwawienia.
Krwawienia śródcykliczne mogą być konsekwencją niewłaściwie dobranych środków antykoncepcyjnych, chorób układu rodnego, między innymi, stanów zapalnych lub infekcji pochwy, chorób przenoszonych drogą płciową (np. chlamydiozy), nadżerek czy polipów szyjki macicy, mięśniaków macicy, a czasami endometriozy.
