Is it normal that after assuming Nuvaring bleeding stopped?

Good morning, I put on the nuvaRing for the first time on the first day of the cycle (before putting on I had blood-stained underwear and when I corrected the puck several times there was blood on my finger, a lot of blood, so the period started) and the next day there was no bleeding anymore. Is this normal and am I sure I'm protected? I can add that, as I took pigulki a few years ago, they completely blocked bleeding (after finishing one package and before the start of the next).
