Can a doctor issue a prescription for a drug available abroad?

Hi, if the drug is not registered in the Polish list of medicines but is available in another EU country then a doctor from Polish can issue a prescription for such a drug? My doctor wanted to issue me a prescription, but after entering the name of the drug, he informed me that the drug is not registered in our list and there is no way to issue this prescription, but on the other hand, why would I go for the drug abroad if it were in Poland? Is it possible now to issue such a prescription differently than through the system?
