Ze względu na plejotropowe mechanizmy działania azytromycyny (efekty immunomodulujące oraz przeciwzapalne), antybiotyk ten był badany u pacjentów COVID-19. Wyniki okazały się raczej rozczarowujące. Analizy wykazały, że azytromycyna w monoterapii, jak też w skojarzeniu nie wpływa na redukcję śmiertelności ani czas hospitalizacji chorych. Jednocześnie ze względu na wpływ na enzymy wątrobowe, zwłaszcza u starszych może być źródłem interakcji.

Według materiałów AOTMIT: "Istnieją jednoznaczne dowody, wskazujące na brak skuteczności klinicznej chlorochiny oraz hydroksychlorochiny stosowanej w monoterapii lub w skojarzeniu z azytromycyną w leczeniu COVID-19 oraz w leczeniu zaostrzenia choroby - Chivese 2020, doniesienie kategorii PRE-PRINT" oraz "Wyniki randomizowanego badania Cavalcanti 2020, w którym HCQ stosowano również w skojarzeniu z azytromycyną wskazują, że dodanie azytromycyny nie wpłynęło istotnie na zmianę wyników terapii".

Trwają różnego rodzaju badania kliniczne i być może pojawią się nowe wnioski. Nie sądzę, abyśmy byli w stanie ocenić w tym kontekście przypadek Pana kolegi, który leczył się w zasadzie na własną rękę.

Antybiotyk brałem 3dni, równolegle z Neosine forte, Gripex max, witamina D3 K2 MK7, asxorvita 1000mg. Dziś 5 dzień, od 2 dni czuję się na 5 -. Inni członkowie rodziny przechodzą to jeszcze z objawami. Wczoraj jeden z zdiagnozowanych na covid19 wziął również sumamed jak zobaczył jak ja się czuję. Zaznaczam że zachorowalismy wszyscy równo, podobne objawy, kaszel ,gorączka do 39.5, bóle stawów, głowy etc. Oni z zdiagnozowanym covidem i kwarantanna , ja bez testu , ale na samo 10dniowej izolacji. Oni leżą , ja dziś pomału idę popracować. Mi sumamed pomógł, nie wiem co będzie za parę dni, ale narazie czuję się zdrowo. Pamiętajcie, dodatkowo dużo ciepłego mleka z czosnkiem i miodem, warzywa, herbatka z sokiem malinowym. Ps. Lekarz obecnie i tak Wam nie pomoże, skoro boi się przyjąć pacjenta do gabinetu. A jak ma się pogorszyć , to i tak zawsze można wezwać pogotowie. Pozdr.

Do @lekarz stażysta: dziękujemy za podzielenie się swoim przypadkiem. Mechanizm działania immunomodulującego i przeciwzapalnego azytromycyny nie został dokładnie poznany. Według mojej najlepszej wiedzy nie pojawiły się żadne nowe wyniki poprawiające notowania azytromycyny w terapii COVID-19. Może ona natomiast być skuteczna w nadkażeniu bakteryjnym płuc w przebiegu COVID-19.

Jestem lekarzem stażysta który przeszedł covid umiarkowanie ciężko . Przez dwa tygodnie utrzymywała się gorączka a na końcu pojawił się ogromny kaszel. Znajoma poleciła mi właśnie azytromycyne. Z początku odmówiłem gdyż wiedziałem że to nie jest lek który może zwalczyć wirusa jednak kaszel był już tak mocny że stwierdziłem że spróbuję wszystko żeby tylko ustąpił . W dawce 500 mg co 12 godzin kaszel ustąpił niemal całkowicie po 2 dniach. Działanie przeciwzapalne azytromycyny musi jednak mieć jakieś znaczenie w walce z zapaleniem płuc w przebiegu covid19
