Hydrocortisonum cream should not be used on the mucous membranes due to the risk of increased side effects (infections, thinning of the mucous membrane, vascular changes). A drug administered on the mucous membranes can also cause increased absorption of the active substance and systemic effects of the steroid. If you experience ailments such as itching, burning or vaginal irritation, you should see a gynaecologist. A single, accidental application of a small amount of the preparation is unlikely to cause major health problems.
