Silodosin is registered for the treatment of signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in adult men. In women, the drug is sometimes used off-label to treat the symptoms of LUTS (a set of symptoms of urinary tract dysfunction such as frequent urination, urgency, urinary leakage, inability to fully empty the bladder, nocturia). On medical websites, you can find clinical trials evaluating the safety and effectiveness of silodosin treatment in women (the drug reduces urethral resistance and improves bladder emptying). In order for a medicine to be officially included in the treatment programme, extended studies must be carried out to include a larger group of patients studied.
