The use of medical marijuana in parallel with Flunarizine requires great caution due to the severity of the inhibitory effect on the central nervous system. Both preparations have a sedative effect and can cause drowsiness, and their combination significantly increases the risk of severe dizziness, concentration disorders and significant psychomotor slowdown.
Flunarizine is a drug that can cause depressive and extrapyramidal symptoms (e.g., tremors), and cannabinoids (especially THC) can exacerbate anxiety or low mood in some patients. There is also a risk that the components of marijuana will affect the metabolism of flunarizine in the liver, which can lead to unpredictable levels of the drug in the blood.
Such a combination should absolutely be consulted with the attending physician (neurologist), since flunarizine has a very long half-life and remains in the body for many days.
