The appearance of an unusual discharge or intracyclic spotting when taking hormonal contraception (especially in a continuous regimen, often used for endometriosis) is a fairly common phenomenon, even after several months of stable use. This may be due to the body's adaptation or slight fluctuations in hormone levels, which does not necessarily mean that the pills are poorly selected or ineffective.
However, if vaginal discharge is accompanied by itching, burning, unpleasant odor or lower abdominal pain, this may indicate an intimate infection, to which endometriosis patients are more susceptible. In such a situation, it is worth consulting a gynecologist to rule out inflammation and assess whether the current dose of hormones optimally calms the foci of endometriosis.
