The most common side effects of the antibiotic Amoksiklav concern the gastrointestinal tract (diarrhoea, abdominal pain, symptoms resembling indigestion). Slightly less often, patients observe skin lesions and fungal superinfections (e.g. of the intimate area). It is difficult to assess to what extent antibiotic therapy could have caused the described ailments. The summary of product characteristics does not indicate a risk of arthritis during treatment. Amoksiklav is generally a fairly safe preparation, as long as the patient does not show hypersensitivity to antibiotics from the B-lactam group. Joint pain can accompany some infections, but in this case it is worth seeking medical advice.
