Can I use Dexilant "on demand" (if heartburn occurs) instead of taking it every day to heal erosions? The doctor recommended it (on request), but I have doubts about taking it. I've been taking Dexilant for over 4 months now, on average every 3 days and 7 hours and I'm wondering if it helps at all.

On-demand use of Delilant may be effective in relieving symptoms such as heartburn, but for the treatment of esophageal erosions, regular, daily intake is usually recommended to maintain constant suppression of acid secretion and allow for healing.
Please consult your healthcare provider for concerns, as continuing treatment on demand may not be sufficient if erosions persist. In addition, more than four months of treatment may require an assessment of progress, for example through follow-up gastroscopy.
