Can Etruzil cause persistent kidney pain in a patient taking Metformin?

Can etruzil cause
persistent kidney pain, if the patient may have a damaged diabetic kidney? She has had type II diabetes for 15 years and is being treated with metformin in the form of Formetic tablets.
